We are a small modern friendly training centre in Milton Keynes, established in 2002. We have our own Best Training range of workbook courses on IT, accounts, and management topics; and we are also a learndirect centre offering their online range of Basic Skills, IT and management modules.

We cater for both private and corporate delegates. Learners work on an individual basis at their own speed, with expert friendly tutor support available whenever it is needed. Courses can be started at any time, and individual study plans are drawn up to suit each learner. Workbook courses are taken in the centre, but online courses can be taken either in the centre or anywhere else you have broadband internet access.

For groups of corporate delegates we can send out a tutor to visit your site and help learners. We are also able to offer some classroom sessions for groups of corporate delegates.

Nationally-recognised qualifications are available through our centre for IT, Book-keeping, and Maths and English. IT certification exams are offered through Pearson VUE, and Food Hygiene certificates can be gained from the Royal Institute of Public Health.

We open from 0900 to 1730 during the week, staying open late until 1930 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings; and we also run Saturday morning sessions from 1000 to 1200.

LEARNDIRECT

lLearndirect has a wide range of short courses to help individuals and businesses succeed in 2007.

Our online modules give learners the flexibility to learn new skills at a convenient time and place – we arrange quiet sessions in our learning centre, or you can study elsewhere if you have access to the internet. Learners are given all necessary tutor support while studying.

There are learndirect course modules on:

• IT (Getting Started, MS Office applications and more);
• Business and Management topics (choose from over 70 short course topics);
• Maths and English.

Modules are available at different levels to match your existing skills. Learners can take individual courses or combine courses towards a valuable nationally-recognised qualification.

Course fees are very reasonable and in some cases private learners without existing qualifications who are now working towards a Basic Skills or vocational qualification can get Government help with part or all of the fees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Several valuable national qualifications are available through our centre.

In IT, we offer the ECDL qualification (http://ecdl.co.uk).

With Sage Line 50 or Instant Accounts we can offer Associate membership of the Institute of Certified Book-Keepers (http://www.book-keepers.org)

We also offer courses and exams for two national certificates from the Royal Institute of Public Health:

• the Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene
• the level 2 award in Food safety in Catering.

Level 2 Awards for the Manufacturing and Retail sectors will be available shortly.

HOW TO FIND US

DIRECTIONS:
We are on the ground floor of Brickhill House in South Fifth Street (turn south off Avebury Boulevard at the Chesterton House corner). Brickhill House is the third building on the left, with a blue and glass front, set back a little from the street. Come to the door and buzz the Best Training/learndirect button for admittance.

PARKING, if coming by car:
There is no visitor parking at Brickhill House, except for disabled visitors arranged in advance. There is free parking a few minutes walk away along South Row. There is 25p per hour pay-and-display parking along South Fifth Street . Be sure to buy a ticket for the correct amount of time – the wardens patrol very frequently.

NB due to building works opposite our office the supply of parking Monday to Friday is currently (Autumn 2007) very restricted. Visitors are advised to allow plenty of time to find parking. There is a multi-storey next to Debenhams, about 5 minutes walk away. Saturday parking is usually much easier.

BUSES:
Stop along Midsummer Boulevard, about 5 minutes walk away.

BY TRAIN:
we are 15 minutes walk from Central Milton Keynes train station (head uphill towards the shopping centre, turn right at the first set of lights, then left at the next set and then first right.
